Chorley American Vape Shop shut down by Trading Standards

A vape shop in Chorley has been shut down for three months following an investigation into the sale of illicit goods and underage sales.

The American Vape Shop ion Market Street was issued with a closure order on July 22, after repeated violations involving the sale of illegal vapes, illicit cigarettes, and tobacco.

Lancashire Trading Standards carried out five separate inspections, seizing 864 packs of cigarettes and tobacco, as well as 187 illegal vapes.

Trading standards officers also found evidence of sales being made to underage customers.

Preston Magistrates’ Court granted the closure order on July 22, 2026, and officers enforced it the following day.

PC Pete Burns from Lancashire Police’s ASB Prevention Command said: “Working closely with Lancashire Trading Standards and other partners, we have secured a Closure Order through the courts to put a stop to this activity.

“I hope this sends a clear message to other stores across the county that the sale of illegal products to underage children will not be tolerated in Lancashire.

“We’re grateful to the public for sharing information that helped us to achieve this outcome.

“Your support is vital, and we encourage you to keep reporting concerns so we can continue tackling issues like this, which often lead to anti-social behaviour in surrounding areas.”

The shop must remain closed until October 2026 and any individuals found on the premises during this period risk arrest, imprisonment, or a fine.
